Way of Life Wellness Gives Back for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
This month, Way of Life Wellness would like to draw your attention to a very real reality: 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men will be victims of domestic violence in their lifetime. Having an awareness month is so crucial because the victims suffer in silence so we need to be the voices that speak out on their behalf. It is key that victims know they are not alone - despite feeling utterly alienated - in order to inspire them to seek help.
As a survivor, I cannot stress enough how crucial it is that we make domestic violence prevention a national conversation. Love should not hurt. Physical abuse is not the only form of domestic violence; emotional and psychological abuse is also domestic violence. Domestic violence may not always leave external scars, but it always leaves internal scars.
This month, we will be donating $1 from every tea purchase to Refuge House whose mission "is to provide direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and to their children and families, as well as to eliminate such violence through community education and public advocacy." Refuge House services the 8 counties in North Florida's Big Bend and has a safe house in Tallahassee, FL.
Additionally, Way of Life Wellness will be collecting items for donation to Refuge House all month. To see a list of what they need, please click here.
